About the school

Although first observed by Captain Cook three centuries ago in the islands of the Pacific Ocean as a 'Royal pastime', the sport of surfing has developed from a youth sub-culture to an international professional sport.  Whilst still maintaining its 'cult/lifestyle' character, surfing is also becoming a mainstream sport in its own right, demonstrated by its inclusion on the P.E. National Curriculum for schools.  Much of this can be accredited to the recent development of surf schools and wetsuit technology (you can stay warmer in the water for longer).  Surfseekers is currently one of the only surf schools in the UK to provide a year round service.

At Surfseekers we would like the opportunity to introduce you to this unique pastime and use surfing not only as a way for you to experience an intense physical activity, but also as a vehicle through which to develop your own knowledge of the ocean environment.

Surfseekers is a Level Three BSA Approved surf school and has been established since 1996.  It is the longest running and most experienced surf school in Woolacombe.  As a British Surfing Association Approved school we ensure that the levels of coaching and equipment are of the highest standard and that we adhere to the BSA's mission statement 'to provide professional and safe surf coaching to members of the public'.

Spencer Nasey the proprietor and head coach has over 10 years experience of surf coaching in the UK, Australia and Canary  Islands.  All instructors hold the appropriate BSA coaching qualification, a RLSS Beach Lifeguard certificate and are experienced surfers themselves.

Surfseekers hold full public liability insurance for coaching of water sports and adventurous activities.
